FAQs

Residential air conditioning FAQs

Straight answers to the questions homeowners across our 50 km Reedy Creek service area ask most often.

What size air conditioner do I need for my home?+
A well-insulated home in the Gold Coast and Tweed coastal climate typically needs about 130–150 watts of cooling per square metre. We calculate a proper heat load in your residential report so the system isn't oversized or short-cycling.
Is ducted or split system better for a Queensland home?+
Split systems are cheaper to install and let you cool one room at a time — great for bedrooms, granny flats and renovations. Ducted with zoning gives whole-home comfort and a cleaner look but costs more upfront and runs efficiently only when zones are used properly. Our residential audit compares both against your floor plan and budget.
How much does a residential air conditioning install cost?+
As a rough guide for Gold Coast: a back-to-back 2.5kW split runs from around $1,800 supplied and installed, a 7.1kW living-area split from $2,800–$3,800, and a 4-zone ducted system from $10,000–$16,000 depending on brand, roof access and electrical work. We give a fixed written quote after inspecting the site — no vague price ranges on the day.
How often should I service my home air conditioner?+
Once a year for a coastal or subtropical home, and every 6 months if you're near the beach, have pets, or run the unit heavily. A yearly service keeps the warranty valid, restores efficiency and catches refrigerant leaks or electrical faults before they cause a breakdown.
Why is my split system leaking water inside?+
Nine times out of ten it's a blocked condensate drain from mould, dust or insect nests. Turn the unit off, place a towel underneath and call us — running it while it's leaking can damage the fan motor and PCB. We clear the drain, flush the tray and check the gradient of the pipe.
Do you install air conditioning for rentals and Form 1a inclusions?+
Yes. We handle landlord and property manager work across South East Queensland, provide compliant tax invoices, and track units against Form 1a inclusions so the same system is easy to service or replace at end of life.
Which residential brands do you recommend?+
For Queensland homes we most often fit Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Fujitsu — all well supported locally with strong warranties. Your residential report includes a shortlist matched to your rooms, budget and how long you plan to stay in the home.
